Provides advanced topics in GTAW welding, including
welding on various positions and directions. Student
practice will include low/high carbon steel, stainless,
and aluminum. Requirement: Successful completion of
WLDG 1434 is required to take this course.

Defines terms and abbreviations; explain and interpret
weld symbols, identify structural shapes; demonstrate
the proper use of measuring devices; read and interpret
blueprints; read welding detail drawings; and calculate
dimensions and materials

Introduces welding of pipe using the shielded metal arc
welding process (SMAW), including electrode selections,
equipment setup, and safe shop practices. Emphasizes
weld positions 1G and 2G using various electrodes.
Requirements: Successful completion of WLDG 1407 is
required to take this course

Studies of the production of various fillers and groove
welds. Prepares specimens for testing in all text
positions. Emphasizes development of multi-pass
welding technicians
