This session examines administrative and legal issues involved in
owning and managing a small business. It reviews the four basic
legal forms of ownership for small businesses and the advantages
and disadvantages of each. Laws that protect competition,
employees, consumers, and the environment are discussed. The
essential elements of a contract are reviewed including the most
common types of contracts. This session covers patent law, trade
mark law, and copyright law.

Required for the application of salesperson’s license.
Includes detailed studies of the Texas Real Estate
Commission rules relating to use of adopted forms,
statute of fraud, and the unauthorized practice of
law. Emphasizes the elements of contracts, offer and
acceptance, and remedies of breach of contract

Develops a useful frame of reference for approaching
real estate law from the real estate salesperson(s)
position. The topics include basic processes of real
estate law, how ownership is held, Law of Agency,
voluntary and involuntary conveyancing, real estate
liens, and recording of interests in real estate. Enables
the real estate salesperson to better understand the
responsibilities and limitations regarding real estate law.
