This certificate provides the skills necessary for
employment as an entry level HVAC technician
in residential and commercial refrigeration and
air conditioning. The 6 courses are: Refrigeration
Principles, Electricity Principles, and Residential Air
Conditioning, A/C Control Principles, Commercial
Principles and Commercial Air Conditioning.
Students will purchase tools, and texts. Students
must read and write in English.

Use the manual HVAC Servicing Proceudres, learn
how to use the service instruments and perform
service procedures. These procedures provide an
invaluable resource for both the entry-level and
experienced service technician. The manual for this
course encompasses all areas of service, including the
mechanical refrigeration systems, electrical system, air
distribution system, and current ERPA requirements of
Section 608 of the Clean Air Act.

This course is designed to familiarize the student
with the theory of refrigeration, air conditioning,
and heating. Includes residential and commercial air
conditioning and refrigeration systems and material
and techniques for service and repair of refrigeration
and air conditioning equipment. This course will also
cover system pressure, basic compression, refrigerants,
condensers, metering devices, and evaporators.

Program length: 15 months daytime; 23 months evenings

This course is approximately 50 percent classroom training and 50 percent hands-on training.
