This beginning French course is for students with little
or no previous knowledge of the language. The course
emphasizes the four skills: listening, speaking, reading,
and writing

Provides practical cooking from the different regions of
France. Emphasizes technique, design, and layout of
plate presentation. Includes topics on similarities and
differences between French food production and the
United States.

Students learn basic French grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills through an innovative web-based, interactive classroom format. This course features one-to-one conversations with the instructor, and small-group discussions with other students using the conference program Elluminate. Assessment is by portfolio and conversations with the instructor. (4 credits)

French is an official language of twenty nine countries and of the United Nations agencies and of a number of international organizations.
