This course is intended for students who have a basic understanding of cake decorating. Learn wedding cake designs including swags, stringwork, lace, lattice, pulled sugar, modeling chocolate, and decorative flowers. Various cake styles, icings, and decorating mediums as well as covering and assembling, safely delivering a wedding cake, dealing with the bride, and charging for your time will also be featured.

This course is designed for the “do-it-yourself�homeowners; those hiring a design professional; and those interested in becoming an interior decorator, re-designer, real estate stager, or interior designer. Topics include design flow, space planning, selecting color and paint techniques, furniture, fabric, lighting, accessories, and organizing. The last two sessions focus on making a career out of your passion, hiring contractors, and bringing design/decorating into perspective.

This course introduces concepts and principles related to sustainable site development and architectural design. Topics include low impact and sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy efficiency, material and resource management, indoor environmental quality, and return on investment. Upon completion, students should be able to articulate and integrate sustainable design principles into site and architectural design.
