This course is a study of medications. Students are taught the history, origins, methods, and administration of, the most commonly prescribed drugs. They learn how to administer meds orally, rectally, sublingual, topically and by parental routes, (intradermal, intramuscular, and subcutaneous injections). Dosage calculations are also being taught and students learn how to use the PDR and other drug handbooks. Prescription writing and reading are shown.

This is a course which prepares allied health students to understand, identify, and classify medications. Upon completion of this course, the student will be familiar with drug classifications and the effects of medication on body systems.
