An indepth study of 3D graphics using Maya. Modeling, surfacing, dynamics, animation and rendering will be
covered.

Semester One
Students gain a thorough understanding of the Maya interface and key principles, tools and techniques for modeling, texturing, surfacing, rigging and lighting. These two courses are overview courses intended to ensure students are extremely comfortable with the Maya interface, modeling digitally in 3D, and working in tandem with Adobe® After Effects®. Students will enroll in both courses and attend classes 2x per week for 10 weeks.

This class will focus on character animation and rendering in Maya, including Flexor animation, skinning, writing expressions and using the hardware and software rendering capabilities. Students will also write MEL scripts to gain a deeper understanding of the animation workflow in Maya. The emphasis of this course is on character animation and rendering.

This course covers the basic concepts of 3D modeling and animation. Students will build a solid foundation of the basic tools of 3D software, and gain basic knowledge of file management, the operating system environment and production practices. Modeling, animation, lighting, texture mapping and rendering are introduced.

Maya’s Modules to Control Specific Animation Effects
Maya comes with additional modules to control specific animation effects. Some of these include Maya Fur, Artisan, and PaintFX. This course imparts the knowledge necessary to give animations a little extra touch. Sample effects include how to make vines grow up the side of a building and styling hair on an animal.
