An introduction to basic acting techniques, theories of acting, and rehearsal procedures. Emphasis is
placed on modern and contemporary comedies and dramas. Students engage in relaxation, concentration,
and vocal exercises. Attention is given to formal script analysis and breaking down dialogue and action into
objective and intentions. Students will perform scenes from contemporary plays.

The Theater Arts program is designed to provide students with the basic competencies, knowledge, and skills requisite to transfer to a baccalaureate degree program in Theater Arts. The Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) curriculum is a three-year program of intensive practical training. The central component of the program is frequent performance, production and management under professional conditions with the Hilberry Repertory Company. Academic courses are intended as a supplement to this practical training.

The Film Video Media programs are designed for students seeking professional preparation for careers in Film, Video, and related industries. Students will be prepared for employment in the television, industrial video, network, cable, and internet production, commercial production, educational video, and feature film production industries, or for entry into graduate study programs.

This course focuses on acting and directing skills which will strengthen students�abilities to communicate visually and verbally. The course will concentrate on three essential elements: pantomime, voice-over acting, and improvisational acting. An emphasis will also be made on learning how to create and enact comedy.
