The objective of this diploma program is designed to prepare the graduate for entry-level employment as a Medical Assistant. Graduates of this program will have the necessary skills to obtain employment in both administrative and clinical areas and any similar positions within the health care field. Graduates are eligible to become Certified Medical Assistants by taking and passing an exam through the American Association of Medical Assistants.

The Clinical Medical Assisting program at SJVC offers extensive back office training to provide support to physicians and direct patient care in a variety of medical settings. Training includes a balance of classroom instruction with laboratory experience to create the best opportunity for student understanding and performance. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) and National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) exams for licensure.

SJVC’s Clinical and Administrative Medical Assisting (CAMA) program trains students in both administrative and clinical medical procedures for medical offices and specialty clinics.
