The MSN curriculum provides students with the knowledge and experience to assume leadership positions in overall health care delivery and fulfill the fundamental requirements to teach in basic nursing programs, engage in nursing practice as clinical specialists, and secure middle- and top-level administrative positions in health care agencies.

Intended for RNs with a diploma or an associate degree in nursing who want to obtain their BSN degree. Students must take 39 additional upper division nursing credits and meet current NMSU Undergraduate Catalog Requirements as well as specific general education common core requirements.

The Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) program prepares licensed registered nurses to meet the needs of the dynamic health care environment by enriching and expanding their nursing education. By building on the diploma or associate degree, the RN to BSN curriculum provides a licensed nurse with the opportunity to enhance his/her knowledge in leadership, health care systems, patient advocacy and decision-making processes.
