Provides an introduction to financial reporting and accounting principles for state/local governments and nonprofit entities.

The Business and Government Leadership Certificate is designed for the those who wish to improve their ability to navigate and lead across the business and government sectors of society. This certificate advances the skills students need to lead and manage in the private and public sectors.

Courses in this certificate are drawn from the Master of Public Affairs degree area of Economic and Global Strategy.

Studies the concepts, methods, and reporting issues in accounting for federal, state and local governments and for other nonprofit entities, including voluntary health and welfare agencies, hospitals, colleges and universities, and religious organizations. In addition, the course will overview some of the issues of management’s information requirements and taxation problems and the role that the accountant plays

A four hour training that will include a step-by-step guide for developing an energy plan and define a government’s commitment to become more socially responsible. An overview of green fleet management, renewable energy and resources will be defined.

Students begin this 4 hour course upon registration and must complete the class within 1 month for successful completion.
