Introduces the basic concepts of occupational health and safety as it relates to emergency service organizations. Topics include risk evaluation and control procedures for fire stations, training sites, emergency vehicles, and emergency situations involving fire, EMS, hazardous materials, and technical rescue. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to establish and manage a safety program in an emergency service organization.

Covers the basic rules of sanitation, food-borne illnesses, safe food temperatures, safe food handling techniques, the HACCP Program, pest control procedures, and local/state health rules and regulations for food service operations. At the completion of the course students take a nationally recognized test from the Education Foundation of the National Restaurant Association.

36 hours requirement. (Two block course.) Students learn all the basic skills and procedures to become American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors.

The online Occupational Safety program provides students a thorough education in the growing field of safety and prepares them for entry level safety positions in a variety of industries. Our online program offers students an opportunity to receive a certificate in Occupational Safety or an Associates of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Occupational Safety.
