Many individuals-- and their estate planning advisers-- overlook the basic tools used to build a sound estate and financial plan. It is important for estate owners and estate planners to build a sound and coordinated estate plan. This activity entails understanding forms of property ownership; utilizing a will and advance directive; considering gifting and personal trusts; and tools and techniques to mitigate estate taxation.
