Sustainable Housing and Building Green: What Agents Should Know - A course designed specifically for Realtors teaches students how to understand sustainability in homes, to recognize green features, to give clients information on green mortgages and to understand costs savings in tax breaks, rebates and incentives. This class is designed to give information that will allow the students to complete a basic evaluation of a house and understand how the house operates as a system. Subjects covered will include Building Science, Methods of Construction, and Building Codes, along with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, footings, foundations and framing.

This course introduces concepts and principles related to sustainable site development and architectural design. Topics include low impact and sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy efficiency, material and resource management, indoor environmental quality, and return on investment. Upon completion, students should be able to articulate and integrate sustainable design principles into site and architectural design.

Participants in the course will develop an understanding of the following concepts:

•How homes work as systems
•The physics involved in buildings and how to use that knowledge to your benefit when utilizing green strategies
