Presents the theory and techniques of financial accounting. The course encompasses the basic functions of collecting, processing, and reporting accounting information for interested third parties (e.g., owners, investors, and government) and enables students to analyze, interpret, and use accounting information.

Examines advanced topics in intermediate financial accounting. Students will read, discuss and apply the most current accounting pronouncements to accounting problems such as accounting for income tax, leases, pension, post-retirement benefits and the Statement of Cash Flows. Students will work on projects researching advanced topics and current issues, presenting their research to their classmates.

The Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting will provide students with an education to facilitate and enhance their professional employability within their respective field of study as well as prepare for professional licensure or graduate study.
