In this course, we examine the current theories of aging, read some of the current literature, and explore the complexity in the biology of aging. We study the distinction between aging, life span, and senescence; learn the value and limitations of animal model studies; focus on the mechanistic, molecular underpinnings of recent research on aging; and talk about what is essential and unique to human aging.
