This course focuses on the rise of sustainable design and building practice in today’s real estate transactions. It will review conditions and history that have driven the green building movement. This course will examine the regulations and incentives that encourage sustainable design at the state and federal levels. You will look at green building innovations already available, or soon to come.

This is a basic course on environmental legislation and provides an overview of the Environmental Protection Agency and various acts and laws which have been put in place to protect the environment. A brief review of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) rules and legislation regarding the environment are also discussed.

Ivy Tech Community College and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) have partnered to offer free training for individuals who are interested in becoming contractors for the state’s Home Energy Conservation Program.
