Emphasis continues on strengthening oral and written communication skills. Before taking this course, new students should be able to comfortably use the present, past, conditional and future tenses of regular, stem-changing, irregular and reflexive verbs. Students should also be familiar with the concept of the subjunctive. Further uses of the subjunctive and other tenses of the subjunctive will be introduced.

Learn basic Spanish by emphasizing pronunciation, reading and conversational skills. The present tense of regular and some common irregular verbs is introduced. Learn how to construct sentences in the affirmative, negative, and interrogative forms and use them in conversation. Textbook required for first class.
