Examine the history and types of portraiture; proportions; measuring techniques plus form, contour and value including planes of the face and lighting patterns in the drawing media of charcoal and graphite. The last two classes present a cumulative experience involving portrait drawing from live models.

Investigate how to bring vibrancy, boldness and movement to your drawings with color. Explore drawing with colored pencils and oil pastels. Each session will include a brief demonstration of a variety of techniques. Complete three color drawings by the end of the class.

Working from still-life set-ups, develop an understanding of line, shape contour, value, composition, perspective, spatial relationships, measuring and proportion, light and shadow. Use your powers of observation to draw what you see.

Over the last few decades, the drafting, design, and manufacturing industries have become heavily computerized. The Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) programs offered by BCCC are structured to prepare a segment of the workforce to compete for jobs in these industries.
