Continue to learn the basic carpentry skills needed to repair, build, and maintain structural and finishing components of buildings. Topics at this level include lay out work, wall framing, ceiling framing, drywall installation, fastening systems, roofing, concrete formwork, and basic stairs.

Study carpentry as it applies to the building maintenance profession. Topics include, safety, math, tools and equipment, floors, walls, sheetrock installation and repair, and tile installation. This class is associated with Plumbing for Building Maintenance, and Electricity for Building Maintenance and can be taken independently or as part of the associated group.

The Carpentry Course is comprised of 19 comprehensive lessons. They are easy to follow, yet challenging and stimulating at the same time. Each lesson begins with a subject matter preview and objectives, an introductory note from your instructor and a vocabulary builder of new words and terms.

Next comes the reading assignment. Practice exercises help you check and review what you’ve learned. At the end of the lesson is an open-book exam, which you may take online.
