Since the first students graduated in 2002, more than 60 students have earned MTPC degrees. Almost all of those students (more than 90%) are employed; many got jobs within a few weeks of graduation. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, demand for technical communicators is expected to increase faster than the demand for other types of writers "because of the continuing expansion of scientific and technical information and the need to communicate it to others."

The program offers emerging writers an opportunity to develop their craft while living on Auburn University�s campus. Chantel Acevedo, a published novelist and poet, as well as other accomplished writers, mentors students in the program.

This course will build upon a general understanding of good writing and composition. Students will be introduced to internal research memoranda, points, authorities, and the Uniform System of Citation. Students will also be required to develop and demonstrate legal research skills and will become familiar with both law library research and electroinc research tools. These skills will be further added upon and utilized in Advanced Legal Research & Writing.
