As a Medical Insurance Specialist, you understand the required processes for health insurance billing and payments and ensure that they are properly followed.

In this program, you will:

Become familiar with the billing and payment rules and policies of major health insurance providers.
Interpret diagnostic and procedure codes.
Process claims in outpatient and ambulatory care settings.
Manage account receivables to ensure optimum reimbursement.

Students who complete the Certificate in Medical Insurance Coder/Biller will be eligible to take the American Health Information Management Association’s (AHIMA) Certificate Coding Associate (CCA) exam.
