provides students with the fundamental skills of Nordic skiing. The emphasis is on skiing technique, conditioning, safety, and equipment. The course has classroom and activity sessions. Conditioning in the fitness center and trips to local ski areas are part of this course.

If you are able to ski the “more difficult�trails at most nordic ski centers you’ll enjoy this two-day introduction to the world of backcountry skiing.

We start out by discussing the various types of equipment and clothing suitable for the backcountry and then we’re off for a tour. On radical terrain and demanding snow conditions lightweight nordic equipment becomes very difficult to use effectively. The additional support of alpine touring equipment can allow skiers to enjoy descents that would otherwise be too difficult.
