This is a spreadsheet-based course in building decision models and simulating the uncertainty inherent in decision-making. It will build on basic statistical concepts in developing random simulations. Spreadsheet tools for conducting simulation analyses will be covered. Integration of data, modeling, and presentation of results will be stressed.

This course discusses the various approaches to credit risk modeling, including: CreditMetrics, the first available portfolio model for evaluating credit risk developed by JP Morgan; credit risk management framework introduced by Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB); credit risk model developed by KMV Corporation (after Moody’s acquisition, it is called M-KMV); credit risk model namely ’CreditPortfolioView’ developed by McKinsey.

This is an intermediate level course in electronic spreadsheets. Students navigate spreadsheets more effectively, create macros, manage and analyze lists, link to other spreadsheets and external information on the World Wide Web, and build a Web page with pivot table functionality.

You have basic computer skills such as using a mouse, navigating through windows, and surfing the Internet. You have also used paper-based systems to store data that you run calculations on.
