This introductory course to basic French is designed for the business person or global traveler. Instruction will begin with numbers, dates, greetings, directions and and basic survival vocabulary. Students will progress to formulation of sentences, questions and grammar structure. This class is an opportunity to learn the language, the culture and the customs encountered in working with French people. Text required.

Students learn basic French grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills through an innovative web-based, interactive classroom format. This course features one-to-one conversations with the instructor, and small-group discussions with other students using the conference program Elluminate. Assessment is by portfolio and conversations with the instructor. (4 credits)

French is an official language of twenty nine countries and of the United Nations agencies and of a number of international organizations. By learning French through this French Conversational course you will be able to read newspapers, articles, understand signs on the roads and be well versed with the language.
