This introduction to conversational French will focus on building communication skills with an emphasis on oral expression and comprehension. The course will be highly interactive, bringing grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and culture together to promote the student’s ability to communicate in French.

This class takes the most elegant cuisine to a practical level with the hearty foods found in the simple little restaurants of France. The menu will consist of Leek and Brie Cheese tart with homemade pie pastry, Coq au Vin (Chicken in red wine), Potato and Tomato casserole from Brittany and Baba au Rhum. Note: A $12 foods fee is payable to instructor at class.

Students learn basic French grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills through an innovative web-based, interactive classroom format. This course features one-to-one conversations with the instructor, and small-group discussions with other students using the conference program Elluminate. Assessment is by portfolio and conversations with the instructor. (4 credits)

French is an official language of twenty nine countries and of the United Nations agencies and of a number of international organizations. By learning French through this French Conversational course you will be able to read newspapers, articles, understand signs on the roads and be well versed with the language.
